rear wheel bearing on e46

Mrs dodgy has complained of noise coming from rear of 330d touring. I have investigated and appears to be rear bearing.
Does anyone know whether the full axle has to be removed or whether the driveshaft will push back far enough for the centre to pop out?
If full axle needs removing how about the rear spring will that hold or will I need to jack that up too.
I dont usually mess but as works quiet thought I would try and get some brownie points.
I am sure the bearing will need pressing out also which a friend will do.
Are there any forums showing how its done. I use p-car for porsche but cant find a BMW site
