Hi All,

I just wondered if there was any real world difference, or any particualr reason why Land Rover changed the engine in the L322 to the Jaguar Lump after 2003? Is it a better engine and are there any advantages?

Thanks
Matt smile

Because Ford bought Land Rover from BMW and added it to their Premier Automotive Group, which also owned Jaguar. Took them a few years to re-engineer the vehicle for the Jag engine, I think it was MY2006 before it hit the streets.

I've driven both and I think the only real difference is the 6 speed gearbox rather than 5. A little bit more power but not that noticeable.

I would go for the Jag engine with the 6 speed gear box. The Jag V8 is old-ish, but now v reliable and quite a good engine in itself.

Go for the jag engined ones, they are smoother and i think slightly more econonmical.

Go for a supercharged one if you can afford the running costs, performance is suprising for a car of size and weight as a proper Range Rover.

Current market conditions are making the values fall very fast so buy knowing you will have the car for a few years and will take a large hit on resale value. This goes for all engines, not just the supercharged ones.
