leaky thermo housing

I think I forgot to silicone the gasket when I changed the thermostat, and if the car is left parked for a day or two a tiny amount of coolant is seeping through or around the gasket, just enough to wet the end of your finger. When the car's in use the housing remains totally dry, it only leaks when left parked up and cold.

I have 3 choices:

1. leave it
2. bodge it - question is how? I've tried silicone around the outside, didn't work.
3. remove the housing and redo the gasket - don't appear to be able to buy just the gasket though. EDIT: Just found out that Autolink can do them smile

Any suggestions?

Re-do it. They only cost £16 and come with a new gasket.

Yeah, I suppose I ought to really, the thermo is brand new and I hate the process of bleeding the air out - I'm always expecting the engine to explode! Wish I'd put silicone on it 2 months ago now...curse my crap memory...

Anyway, Autolink have a gasket in the post for 70p.
