Guys,

What are the various options and must haves on the M6 that I should look out for?

Bluetooth vs. Bluetooth with telematics?

Extended versus Full leather? Difference?

High gloss piano black.. does that replace the carbon fibre interior and if so is it better?

Comfort access?

High beam assist

Connect assist, connect online?

High gloss external?

I've seen a few combinations around and can't tell what is what at the moment...

Full leather is nice.. adds leather on the dash and other small bits as well an alcantara headliner over and above the standard (extended) leather.

It's certainly a buyer's market these days but be aware of the big losses you'll incur if purchasing new.

Everything and anything has been discussed ad infinatum in the messageboard here:

go to mtorque and you'll get more information and fewer stories about "my latest highway kill".

I have an M6 and spent a long time looking around at them (was surprised at how many AUC cars were not 100%!!)

Full leather is a very nice to have - it was a £5000 option new and to be honest - on the 2nd hand market it doesn't make a huge difference in price, so I would hold out for one. It basically means it is leather covered everywhere and an alcantara roof lining which makes the cabin feel much more special.

I have comfort access - also a nice to have, basically means you never need to take your key out of your pocket and makes more sense of a start button!

High beam assist, I have it - not really necessary.

Adaptive lights are very impressive on dark B roads!

Mine also has the bluetooth with telematics etc. - not having owned one without I am not sure on the main differences to be honest - someone who came to look at my car was intrigued by the SOS button on the ceiling etc. so I guess that must be different?

TV function I think is a fairly useless gimmick, I had it in the M3 and M5 and the only time it was ever turned on was to show people it! Having said that, I had an enquiry recently asking if mine has it so I guess some people must see more value.

ETA: Yes, gloss black replaces the carbon fibre - personal taste but I think the carbon is very dated now - gloss black looks fantastic!

Also, you probably know this, but the MOST important thing is that the car has had it's running in 1200 mile service - don't go near a car without that stamped up unless it is seriously cheap! They have quite strict running in schedules which is why I held out for a car that was privately owned from new as obviously demo cars are 'tested' from day 1! May make a big difference when they get a bit older.

Best of luck with your hunt! It is a fantastic car and unbelievable value at the current prices. I thought mine was cheap at £53K earlier this year!!!
