12,000 mile service / MOT

Any of you out there got any recommendations of who to take my 96 Chim to for its 12,000mile service? how much u paid etc .Also any one in the bristol/portishead area recommend a good MOT garage, i.e. one were i can hang around and watch.

Peninsula at Exeter - Main dealer and 12k service is about £385 all in. Also they can do your MOT.

Furthermore you get to drive an hour down the M5 and back!

Only in Nailsea so not to far from you. Not had a service done myself, but had car waxoyled OK.

Never really been able to fault Hamilton Cars in Failand myself. I've bought two TVR's from them, had one service and one sh*tload of warranty work (at their expense).

Sure, you might not get main dealer frills, but IMHO you get a good job done.

I'll probably be doing the 220-mile round trip for my next service.

Hamilton ok, got my chim there, but I'd go for peninsula any day - avoid brooklands (now Bentley West Country) in Marsh Barton - everything 3x the price and very slow work (=££££'s!)

I would have thought that 'main dealer' servicing would be of a fixed price. I spoke to my 'preferred' main deal a couple of days ago about mine. And they quoted £585, and that's with a discount, 'cause my car is more than 3 years old.

How come another main dealer can do the same work (assuming they are using the same parts) for some £200 less.!!!

I guess they charge a lower hourly labour rate! Didn't I read they have not increased their previous "TVR Specialist" rates when they got promoted to main dealer status.

Eitherway, I'd also recommend them.

I can also recommend peninsula too. Done a great job on mine. 12,000 mile service plus a few other bits for £500. lots cheaper than other main dealers!
