The heater on the aircon unit seems to take a couple of miles to get heat coming into the footwell (guess engine not hot enought), eventually get heat coming through, but when stopped (at lights etc) it reverts back to blowing in cold air - on the move again and in comes the heat...seems like a motion sensor, clutch etc?

Again it is one of those problems that if somebody has come across it is probably a straight forward fix, otherwise hours of "diagnostics" and return visits to garage.

Any advice...?

I think something similar was posted a while back but can't find it - need a stickie for e39 heating problems......

Don't they have an auxilary water pump for the heaters? Probably that that's packed up.

I've had a few BMs and without exception they've all had crap heaters....especially the climate controlled ones.
