What's the difference between this and the already running weekly Time Trial challenge?

I guess the difference would be rather than a weekly winner we would keep a record of poistions and therefore points and have an F1 stlye champion at the end of a set period

Good idea Rufus, would be nice to have a good car for the 2 week challenge, heres hoping.

Also I'd be keen to run a drift series alongside the TT series, was wondering if you folks did any GT drifting. Can I suggest M3 on HSR forward or maybe 1 Series Ti on Suzuka East?

if rufus and co are in, i'm out. it's pointless unless we penalise them for using a steering wheel. maybe we add 2 seconds to their times?

Stew - No way!

Not our fault we have spent some cash on a wheel - i know Scooby wont agree!

Maybe you need to invest!

All steering wheel people out would be more fair. (that is including me)

However we don't have enough people for steeringwheel and pad use.. seperated i think.

Maybe just post after your name what you used. (pad) (sw)

Stew has made a fair and valid point.

As another possible solution, perhaps the steering wheel users can use different tyres to the pad users. But we may have to trial this out for a week, and see how well it works or not. scratchchin

e.g.
Pad users on S2 tyres
Steering wheel users on N2 tyres

The only other fair way is to have 2 championships, pad and steering wheel.

i like this idea-

wheel users use the dihatsu copen.
pad users can use any car they like.

sounds fair to me.

smile

we have a clear grasp that wheel users are capable of faster times when using lesser tyres(N's) simply because they have a greater degree of control. i'd love a wheel myself, but at the sheer cost of it considering i have other things like food/water/bills to pay...i can't justify getting one.

We can trial it for a while but I'm quite confident there will be too much of an unfair advantage to the wheel users. eg on the likes of the current TT challenge, I'm in 13th place, 1.56.3xx, darkdice is on 1.553xx iirc, so I'm only a second away using the pad, N2 tyres for these guys would most likely cost something like 2-3 seconds per lap on Fuji with apex speeds being down quite a bit.

What about handicapping it but using the same class, ie pad people on S2, wheel people S1? Pitty we don't have the ballast option to try and even it out.

OK I'm home what did i miss.

Mmmm, lots to think about there, I was hoping to keep the same format as the current TT's but with points and a table.

I can understand the pad user's concerns but I know plenty of fast pad drivers on GTP, my point, maybe it's not the pad.

I'm happy for it to stay the same, just makes you try harder looking at Darkdice's time.

My problem with the wheel is this: You need to be using it all the time to actually see the benefit of it, no good bringing it out once in a while to try to achieve a better time, you need to have your eye in so to speak. I tried it last night and was hopeless, switched to the pad and took near a second off my time. Plus replaying the lap I knew I could take circa another second off, just takes more attempts with the pad.
