Anybody know the wheel nut size for a Cerbera? I think it's M12 x 1.5 on a Griff... are the Cerbys the same?

Thanks!

No. M12 x 1.25 thread. Tried it yesterday and ended up having to measure the things.

No chance of that... I've just seen some with TVR logos on for sale that I'm quite fancying... but only if they'll fit!

They don't! Saw them on Friday and checked that night. The Cerbera seem to be consistently M12 x 1.25 fit. The thread is finer than that used on the Griffi and Chimpari.

when I got my first Cerbie, the Griff locking wheel nuts did not fit and they still don't!

Depends on wheel type - spider have different bolts , they are the same as Jeeps. Not sure what the older style alloys use.

Looked up Jeep in my "I-spy book of wheel nuts" and guess what they have used about six different types as well.... Main difference seems to be the nut length and seating more than anything else!

This implies that when I had my wheels changed the dealer used new bolts and nuts?

From what I could see it looked like they had simply reused the old nuts, they certainly didn't charge me for any new bolts (and I'm sure any dealer worth his salt would jump at the chance )

The bolts on the spider wheels start rusting within about 20 minutes or so.

Ditto - the nuts & bolts on mine weren't changed when I had the spiders put on.

Do you mean if you have "special" spider ones?

Thanks again guys - didn't realise this was going to get quite so complicated (should've remembered it's a TVR!)

The spider bolts are longer (or so I am told) and so I dont know how you can use the old bolts?

A year ago I fitted 18" spiders in place of the 16" standard alloys on my 4.2 Cerbera. I didn't replace the studs or wheel nuts (of course I had to axle-grind the rear half-shafts and fit steering rack spacers). The new wheels went straight on with plenty of stud length protruding for the nuts to thread on to. I didn't consider the seating for the nuts mind you. Wonder if I should have... Whatever, I've had the wheels on and off any number of times and all appears OK.

Sorted it out....

1/2 inch UNF and M12 x 1.25mm are as near as makes little difference the same thread and so they are interchangeable or to be more exact, the nuts and bolts will interchange without binding. Whether they will torque up correctly or not I am not sure.

They only way to identify them is with a screw thread guage and measure the thread angle.

I have made my own locking wheel nuts and bought a tap to do the job and it is a 1/2" UNF cost £2 from local tool shop

Popped down to Halfords [shudder] yesterday to try out a few sets of locking wheel-nuts (and to help sort out the confusion). Tried all the following:
M12 x 1.25mm
M12 x 1.50mm
M12 x 1.75mm

None of them quite fitted. 1.25mm was the closest if I remember rightly, but still not close enough. Ho hum.
