With it looking like my beloved Chim is going to be back on the road and in working order within the next week after 6 weeks of it just sitting around (rear UJ buggered and also a suspension bush i think), my mind has now turned to how beautiful i want to make her look again. My mind hasn't really been on it recently. It's hard to take pride in it went it's not working!!

So, I've a lovely new set of leven air vents, pedels, going to save up for a new Leven dash, but most of all I WANT TO SORT OUT MY STONE CHIPS!!

I did a search and there seems to be a wealth of info on the subject, but i was wondering if anyone has got a tried and tested method (other than a total respray) to make the little critters look better.

A good starting point i guess would be to get some touchup paint from TVR bodyshop or somewhere alike. But my main questions are:-

Whats the best method of applying?

How do I smooth the touchup paint down to blend in? T-cut? Wet'n'dry?

Do I need to put any laquer on?

Bearing in mind that there are literaly hundreds of chips on the front.

I will eventually get a total respray, but I want this to coninside with when I get the twin headlamps on the front and when I've a stack of cash in my pocket!!

Big Al.

Dan long time no posts!

Hope all is OK with you and the job?

Sounds as though you got your work cut out with the car?

If you want to know anything about detailing then this is the site for you. www.autopia.org/ you'll need to register but it's free, wealth of information about car TLC.
Keep us posted on your progress, hope to meet up again soon. OH

Cheers Al,

works OK thanks mate, I'm freelance now and pretty busy. Moved back to Wales full time to. Just in or around London for a week or so a month for some work. Frustrating having to catch trains all the time to!!

Like I said though, the car should be sorted soon, its pretty hard trying to find a garage where I live (in the sticks of west wales) that are willing to work on the car and also do a good job of it, but I found a place that works on Lotus's, Rolls, and Ferrari's, so hopefully they'll do a decent job and I'll have some happy motoring before the ice kicks in for the winter!!

Cheers for the website to mate, I'll check it out tonight. Next time I see you all I should have a spottless stunning Chim thats running like a dream!

Regards..

Big Al.

Sorry to hear about the poorly motor, Danny. Hope she's fixed soon.

As for the stone chips, you must be driving too close to the car in front
