A8 vs S8 - prev shape models

The previous shape A8 (up to 2003?) and S8. What are the real differences, in both outright performance and how the "drive"?

I'm comparing the S8 with the 4.2 A8 btw.

D2 A8 ended in 2002.

S8 and 4.2 quattro sport

S8 is loaded, especially final editions (2002), every single box ticked.

S8 has an extra 20bhp

S8 has more aggressive gearbox map (though you can put the S8 map on the qs box)
