Quick question though I can probably guess the answer -
What do you think of a Speed 6 version, verus AJP. Had a 98' 4.5 Cerbie with sports exhaust, brilliant noise!! Have a Tamora at present but will due to expanding family go back to a Cerbie. Love the speed 6 engine, power delivery, noise but in a Cerbie?! Also Cerbie speed 6 with sports exhaust, which make/supplier?

Thanks for the help.

Yes the answer is easy to guess. The S6 is the best.

Just my little joke Davidd, perhaps youve heard of the concept?.
My reasons for preferring the S6 have been discussed at length in previous posts, but to summarise:

1) A more exotic sound
2) Performance (subjectivly based on my experience, although the official figures do not bear this out)
3) Slightly lower geared steering, which means the car is not darting all over the road with any kind of uneven surface.
4) Slightly softer suspension making it easier to live with day to day.
5) You can get a newer car for your money.

The down side is that you become a virtual leper in the eyes of some of the V8 boys.

This does not mean that I do not like the V8 cars, I just prefer the S6.

Only a limited experience of test driving both types of car (before buying a Tuscan) - but I found the Speed 6 to be a much better car for the road than the 4.5 (more compliant, easier power delivery).

However I bought a Tuscan which is even more agitated (agile) on the road than any Cerbie - so go test drive some - I think the latest 4.5s have newer suspension thingys so may ride differently anyway.

There was also something in the back of my mind that didn't make me feel comfortable buying a car that takes up space in the cabin for a V8 but only has a straight 6 in there.

What a choice to have!

Cheers,

Andy.

Come on guys, lt's not do this again.

Yes the S6 has a less than perfect record, but there
are some excellent S6 engines.

Get the right one and you will be very happy I am sure.

Whether it be a S6, 4.2 or 4.5, do the research and you
should be ok.

Go create some weather...

Indeed, horses for courses and all that.
I think that test drives are really useful, TVRs are so variable even across the same spec that you could not drive one s6 or AJP8 and expect another to be the same.
