I was at Works Service on Friday to collect the car in time for the weekend. Never being one to turn down a look around I was taken on a hosted tour of entire place. Some great kit of all ages being worked on. However, to the point of my story, when we walked into the Special Vehicles area I spyed the below and snapped it while said guide was off wrestling with a car cover.

Can someone please tell me what I am seeing. Even after some checking of sanity over the weekend, I still believe that looks like a V600 engine!

The air intakes are wrong for a V600. Very odd.
I've just had a look at the v600 engine we have on our shelf and it's a different set up. Looks like v600 supercharges retro fitted to a modified EFI V8. Have you got a bigger picture?

TR.

edited to ask: was it a UK car? i can see the side markers on it.....which makes me think it's federal. If it is, it's probably one of steel wings development cars similar to: http://www.steelwings.com/ViewClassic.aspx?id=187

Looks like the twin supercharged 550 engine from a Vantage (without the cover). Difficult to say whether it's been V600'd or not, but I doubt it as cooling would be an issue.

Sadly I dont have a larger image as it was only a quick snap. Believe it was a UK car.

Saw the twin eatons first and im sure I saw a v600 badge on the engine somewhere. May be going mad as I didnt have long before being ushered away to something else.

Regardless of whether its a 550 or 600, what a superb idea! Turning the old "flying carpet" into a snarling Q-car. As to the huge amount of other factors that would have to be engineered - im afraid I didnt have chance to see or photo.
