Hi folks

Has anyone elese experienced the traction control activating for no apparent reason - i.e. driving along down a straight bit of dual carriageway?

Keeps happening on mine, and it's not just the light as it also loses power.

Does anyone know what this might be? - I'm hoping it's just a simple/cheap sensor issue!

Thanks

Could be an ABS sensor.

Had the same thing on my wifes 330ci convertible (02 reg) First noticed it driving down to the Souh of France in the summer. It happened everytime we stopped for a break. Stopped for 10 mins or so, starts fine, drive out of the services (or wherever) and after rejoining the motorway whilst building up speed it would get to about 70ish and then the t.c. light would start to flash and all throttle response was lost. Omly lasted about 15seconds or so but it did seem to do it virtually every time under those conditions. Since returning I've only had it happen once but again that was after stopping for fuel and rejopining the motorway - I havent tried pulling any fault codes as yet - perhaps I should but it happens so rarely Ive just put up with it. The only other 'fault' I have is that the airbag w/light is on all the time. Could be connected or just coincidence, who knows. Anyway, if you sort yours before I sort mine let me know!

Obviously is connected as my airbag warning light comes on as well - not permanently but intermittently.

Trouble is I know that if i just take it a garage blind, they'll struggle to find the fault and charge me a fortune in time for the privilege!

Help! Someone! Please!

It shouldn't be difficult for a dealer to diagnose as they will just plug in to the OBD port and read the fault codes. From there they will be able to quote for fixing it. Alternatively most small garages will have code readers (OBD2 has been standard fit on all cars since c'97 so you need one to work on anything these days!) Get them to pull the codes and then look it up on the web.
