Cold weather B18!

HI I've been driving round in this recent cold weather and I noticed that my temperature gauge is dropping down in fact its actually reverting to choke mode, this being my first Honda I am a little concerned.
The heater takes a little while to get going but once its up to temperature it is perfectly acceptable.
Before I go and change the thermostat, I would like to know if this is a common occurrence?
The car is Civic MC2 VTi with the B18C4 engine

ur termo stat sounds very lazy i had the same prob.
go to honda get one think there under £30, easy to fit.
if you've never done it before take it to a garage, worth while getting ur anti freeze fully changed if its not been done as a fair amount of it will pour out when getting access to the termo stat housing.
