Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a 98/99 M3 evo Cabriolet. Any advice on where is best for insurance, seems a bit steep on the usual sites. Also any advice on what to look out for, the one's I've seen have quite high millage, around 80-90000, would this be considered a problem or are the engines and running gear pretty good?
Thanks for any help
Paul

This has been covered loads, a search on here and e36coupe.com should tell you all you need to know.

90k is nothing for an M3 but good history is particularly important, if it's not been looked after you'll be looking at some big bills on a regular basis. The usual points to look for are noisy vanos, knocking noise from rear suspension (top mounts/rtab), in fact the suspension as a whole, rusty arches, check brakes - front discs are £100 each.

It's going to be expensive to insure, I suppose it depends on your age etc who is cheapest. Do your research, look at a few and buy the one with the best history rather than the one which might look the best!

ETA - SMG is best avoided....

elephany ot admiral.

add someone over the age of 55 as a namd driver, play around with ur job title, makes all the difference.

mine went from 1100 to 700 with the above changes.

if u have more than 1 car in ur household, try admiral multicar insurance - very cheap

Is your track cover with Heritage too? I'd like to get a policy that includes it.

Didn't go with Heritage in the end as they would only give cover for club trackdays & you had to pay extra for other non club days. Went with HIC which is any trackday as long as it is a proper organiser.
