If I ever saw another Tiv when driving the Wedge, I'd like to flash (my lights ) at it. However, there might be a risk of wearing out the lift motor/mechanism (). I thought of returning to the original 280/350 arrangement of flashing the driving lights rather than raising the headlights.

Anyone done this, or 'understand' how to rewire the headllight flash to driving light flash?

Just to complicate matters, my elastics have only one diode ... but the headlights pop up and down OK on flash.

probably have to take the power off the flash terminal on the stalk. as the rest of the wiring is connected in someway to the headlamps, I have limited experiance rewired a motorcycle once, and my kitchen.

I could do it easier than I could tell you how to. So much depends on exactly which configuration of switches and relays TVR used to power everything. My car uses 7 relays just on the lights! Early Tasmin uses 3 just to move the pods, with the lights going through the switches.
Assuming that your car flashes the driving lamps as well as the headlamps, what you're really looking for is a way to STOP the lights popping up. On my car that's just the removal of one diode... on yours, who knows?

Why bother with the lights. Stick your arm out of the top and wave - I assume you always drive with the hood off?!?!

Mr Attrick - of course I do. Since becoming B402WFV's keeper on 1 August this year, I have only driven twice with the hood up, once I had to stop on the way to Zumerzet to put it up in pouring rain, and then for the entire drive back to Surrey - it was the day of the monsoon in Southern England!

Humm! The driving lights don't flash, just the headlights pop up. Maybe I'll try swapping the diode over and see what happens. Disappears in cloud of smoke - Streaky

My 350 popped up but the 400 doesn't. Just the driving lamps. 7 years between the 2. Legislation changed?

I believe TVR changed in 1986 from driving to headlamp flash (according to the 'bible'), but mine is 'odd'

Streaky,
Your a brave man. IMHO "if it ain't broke don't fix it" is a good saying generally but especially where Lucas/TVr electricery is concerned. I'd leave well alone!IMHO of course

Maybe not that brave. Am thinking about it from a pre-emptive perspective, and just wanted to see if there was any prior knowledge - Streaky

Streaks old chap, if you have AutoCAD 2000 or later, and want to email me directly, I can send you the article that I wrote on the subject for tvrwedgepages (not yet published). Unfortunately I 'downgraded' from AutoCAD 2000 back to version 14 ('cos I was finding it hard going, not being a CAD techie) and can't now open my own drawings! Doh...

Ian - many thx, but I don't have AutoCAD neither do I know anyone who does. Maybe this could help you though -- www.dwgtopdf.com/. E-mail me the file anyway (DWG or PDF) & I'll look @ it when I'm back in the cold, wet UK - Streaky
