My local dealer has one for sale with loads of extras, including EDC, taking the price to over £56K but SLASHED to £49K.

I wonder if they will ever sell it considering a year old one can be had for as little as £35K.

I'd be amazed if they sold it anywhere near £49k. People are going on about what good value the M3's look at just under £40000 but even if you buy at that price and drive out of the dealership you're still going to lose near enough £10k straight away.

I made the prediction that we would see an M3 for £32999 by Christmas ( which we did at a main dealer ). By April/May next year i think we'll see low mileage M3's for under £28000 at main dealers.

Thats about the right price to buy at.

What a massive difference.

I am abroad right now and the one at the main dealers here, E92 Coupe DCT, Melbourne Red is going for £136k, you could buy 3 in the UK and still have change left over for a 335i on top of that

Always thought that the cost of living was low out there. Is it because it's an import and a locally made Proton/Kia whatever is peanuts. At those prices it might be worth shipping my D3 over and selling it in KL as it is worth bugger all here.

Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia IIRC all have ridiculous OTR prices for foreign cars. The import taxes are ludicrously high.

What do you think would be a fair price difference between a brand new car and a one year old (or slightly more now) one with say 8,000 miles? I would certainly pay a lot more for an 09 model year car with idrive 2 and probably with running improvements than I would for an early car. But in my case not £16k more. How much more would others pay for the new one?

Of course I am ignoring the fact that the 'new' car probably is not really a 'new' car. I wonder how long it has been sitting around at the dealer.

My last E92 M3 was an ex-demonstrator but I was happy to pay the premium for a new factory order on my current one. It might seem crazy, but (with a good discount and guaranteed £30k back in 3 years on a PCP) I like having a car that no-one else has been in. And I know it's not been sitting around at the dealers from the September 2008 build date stamped on it.

Oh, and idrive 2 is great BTW!

A GFV of £30000 after 3 years ? That seems an amazing deal considering 18 month vehicle's are having trade bids of below £30000 already. What kind of package did they put together for that GFV then ?

Yeah general cost of living is quite low but wages are even lower, making it a very expensive place to live when u take into account wages. Eg even tho fuel per litre is cheaper here, a waiter on minimum wage can only affored 1.5 litres of fuel after an hours work, wheres a waiter in 5.50 an hour in the UK can afford around 4 litres of fuel after tax.

Tax on imported cars is crazy, and I believe Protons are more expensive here in Malaysia than in the UK lol

Then you must be paying way over the top per month as the car's going to be worth well below £20k.

Not at all. Haggled hard with the benefit of 3rd party quotes. Just think I managed to get a genuinely good deal - can only assume that as the deal was struck early september, the finance co's RVs hadn't reacted to what was happening to the market.

No, the issue is with the loan company and their expected valuation. The GFV on my 330 was 16k after 3 years, it is not worth that after 2 so I drive it for another 12 months hand back the keys and wave goodbye. Same with that M3, the finance company are taking the hit on the depreciation rather than the motorist........hence why all the car companies are stting bricks! They are not selling new cars and they are sitting on a huge pile of negative equity.
