should i look at getting a set of winter tyres for my 5.0 Chimarea?
i have SO 3's all round with about 3k driven on them, i presume these are softer tyres than most, so i'm wondering if there'd be any real difference.
reason i'm asking is that on the way back from Ralph Schumachers go-kart pad, my snowflake light was amber all the way back... it does work!.... nice powerslide exiting the autobahn though
so, the question... winter tyres or not? BTW, i intend to run it through the year.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

Yes, go for a set of winter tyres and wheels. It will protect your standard wheels from salt as well as allowing a 205 front, 225 rear set up for winter and a more wild set up for summer.

If you can afford it fine, get a spare set, but I just leave things as they are. It hasn't caused me any problems yet and my car lives outside. I just drive her when there's a nice sunny day.

Ask some of the German members. I dont know what its like for the fish heads but the southerners do it religously. I never changed my p0s in Munich, but I always used the Discovery in bad weather.

Having experienced the noise from winter tyres and heard about the rapid wear on performance cars I'd rather buy a cheap 2nd car - only if you think the weather is likely to be so bad.
