Having had the M5 2 months now...a strange thing is happening!!

It's saving me money!!!! Bear with me here...

When I 1st bought it, the front brake pads were due for replacement in approx 2,800 miles according to the CBS...since then I've done near 2k miles and the front pads are now due for replacement in.............wait for it.......

4,100 miles.... woohoo

Is this down to the fact that the last owner must have been giving it some on the brakes and the CBS was predicting on current wear that they would need replacing in 2.8k?

And is my driving style now affecting the CBS prediction?

On another note....I've used 1 litre of 10W60 over the 2k miles which I'm impressed with after seeing some previous threads about 1 litre per 1000 sometimes less....

Oh yeah and fuel now being so cheap, it just gets even better laugh

Anyone else had this with CBS changing it's mind!!

I used to have an M5. I think I got something simular after I did a trackday at Silverstone. After a bit of road driving it went back to normal.

Similarly, albeit the opposite.

I parked my M6 in the garage with the microfilter needing replacement in 2,800 miles.

Left the car a couple of weeks.

Got back in to find it now needs changing in less than 1,000 miles?

Prediction based on different driving styles I understand... but this???

berry,

only had the M6 a couple of weeks but was thinking to myself, how should I check my oil..just off the iDrive screen and rely on its accuracy or should I be hunting dipsticks? :-)

Have found the idrive to be remarkably accurate for the oil check, no dipstick to be found I'm afraid cept the one in the drivers seat in mine:-)
