How to repair vanity mirror lights.
Discussion
This might help someone sometime. I used to do stuff like this on the supra forum whenvever I had the car in bits so thought Id take a couple of pics while I set about butchering the new car.
Basically the drivers side vanity mirror lights didnt work and after checking the connector in the roof was getting 12vdc it had to be something wrong inside the sunvisor.
To get into the bulbs and connections you need to carefully prise open the plastic mirror surround that is held in at the sides with small plastic tabs.I started at the top right.
Once its free the surround is hinged the same as the mirror cover letting you into the gubbins. Only thing to watch is the mirror has a blob of silicon adhesive so you need to free that off carefully before the surround will move far.
Once your in you can check the bulbs and connections, my ground wire was loose so a quick blob of solder and its working fine now.
(Also whatever you do dont try and prise the whole unit off the sunvisor thinking its just held in with clips. It will break all the plastic welds and you will need to spend a good bit of time fitting this back on making sure the visor cloth is tight)
Cheers
Mike

mike, any idea how to fix the spring/s on the mirror cover as mine flaps down when the visor is down?
I'm not sure mate tbh. I think though looking at the lower pic theres two spring metal tabs on each corner at the top that might have something to do with it either that or its the force of the switch on the top left that holds it up.
Wish I still had it sitting in front of me.
