Morning, I'm looking at swapping my A3 1.8T 150bhp for a E36 either 323,325,328 coupe.
I'm wondering about fuel consumption as I currently get around 28-33mpg out of the Audi, don't mind it going up for something more enjoyable to drive!

Are there any common problems on the E36 that I need to look out for?

Thanks for you help.

A few months ago I swapped my daily driver from a 1.8T Golf to a e36 328i Sport and I don't calculate these things to the penny but I'd say it uses less petrol because it is soooo much nicer to drive the extra power (mines got a few mods and a recent rolling road readout of a whisker over 200bhp) just makes it an effortless criuser where as the Golf just wouldn't pull the skin of a rice pudding and needed thrashing everywhere.
Everything just feels nicer and the running costs are not much different, insurance is a few quid more but not much and servicing isn't going to be any more expensive.
The only big thing to think about is the Nikisil issues, which a quick google should be able to steer you round. wink

Nice one mate thats great advice, I figured the consumption shouldn't be much too different, now just to call Adrian Flux for a quote!
Must remember to find out about this Nikasil issue aswell.

Go for the 328. Don't bother with the others.

...unless you wanna thrash it all the time, then M50B25 from 325 is a better option. But from your MPG I'm assuming you're far from it and 328 is the best choice.

Get anything from 25 to 35 mpg from my 325i, suppose it could be coaxed higher on a long trip but I can never be paitient enough.
