Hello again.

This will be my last report of 2008; there is another auction next Tuesday, but that day I'll be polishing my shoes for the PH Xmas drinks at Dirty Dicks that evening. Maybe I'll see some of you there?

Was good to meet JazzyBee at the auction today. He remained a frustrated shopper when I left, but there were still plenty of cars to come; maybe he has some news for us?

Not a very exciting sales report otherwise this week, I'm afraid. Two large sales today: one from Mercedes Benz UK and the other from Chrysler/Jeep. Both over 200 cars each. As for general fleet stuff, it was a pretty poor show with many cars failing to meet reserves. I've included the pretty pics nonetheless.

As part of my continued attempt to make my reports appeal to both sexes (remember I included a 'blue car' in report #5), today I'm very pleased to be able to include a PINK one! JazzyBee was on his toes waving madly at the auctioneer as it entered the hall; if I hadn't dragged him back goodness only knows what damage may have occured to his happy family Christmas!

So here it is ladies.

Interesting as ever, thanks for taking the time to post - the pictures really bring the cars to life rather than just the list you get on the HJ site.

Interesting post and a real eye opener, a few months back I started a topic called "Merceded CLS hot or not?" which some of you may remember, at the time the average price was £25k for a 06 320cdi and I was seriously considering it after reading your post today I'm very glad that I didn't take the plunge!

Thanks for taking the time to start this topic, I feel as though I've had a lucky escape.

The S320cdi looks good at £27k. £60k new 18 months ago? I note it's a provisional though.

I'm just curious as to how the residuals have held out - compared to all the big stuff thats lost shed loads, the 2 smarts in this report have held onto their money well.

Excellent post as always V8Mate.

If it isnt too much trouble could you possibly give me some more info on the lexus/toyota auction in January? I'm probably looking in the wrong place but can't see much on the Manheim website.

Cheers

The auction is on Tuesday 13th January at 11am. (Cars will start being sold from 10am, but the Toyota/Lexus bit starts at 11am) I'd recommend getting there about 9 so that you can have a good long look round the vehicles. They do a cracking cooked brekkie too!

Catalogues are £3 from reception.

If you assume that you'll have to pay a 5% surcharge on any purchase, you won't be disappointed (i.e. it's actually a bit less than 5%, but doesn't follow a linear charging structure)

Hi V8, good work. I couldn't make today as I was in London with the Mrs. I had my eye on the SLK 55 but all those Slks have firmed up compared to what they were making 4-6 weeks ago.

No worries. Looks like January will have a couple of interesting sales.

I was VERY surprised at the prices the SLKs made (there were more than just those I posted). I kept thinking that people must be bidding on a completly different car or plate. Who would think that they'd demand such interest a week before the lousiest Christmas in years?
