E36 M3 Evo oil - whats the deal
Discussion
Hi all.
I know that this has been covered many times on many forums!
My car is due an Inpection 2 Service this January. I went to see BMSport and Phil Crouch (CPC - what a nice chap!). Anyway, both stated they would use the 10w60 Castrol oil as part of the service. However, most Evo owners stay away from this oil in favour of 5w40 Silkoline and the like. I currently run Royal Purple XPR 10w40 in my Evo.
So whats the deal, these 2 top BMW specialists are OK with 10w60, however most M3 evo owners think the 10w60 is completely wrong. I know the 10w60 oil is for the E46 and later M cars.
I am now thinking of switching to 10w60 as a result of the 2 opinions from BMSport and CPC, just want to make sure i am doing the right thing for the engine\vanos and would like all your opinions.
Thanks!!
