I've just driven my mate's new M3 saloon and, quite simply, it's fookin marvellous! I've been thinking of a 335i M Sport lately, but the M3 seems to be a league ahead, and with the way they are all depreciating at the moment I may as well hang on a bit and get the M3 instead. So, a couple of questions:

1. I only drove the car for 10 minutes but think it may be the answer to all my motoring needs; is this normal?
2. When does the smile come off my face?
3. Can someone advise when I will be able to buy an M3 saloon for about £35k? Please be as specific as possible in your answer - e.g., "It will be the third week of February, probably on the the Thursday at around 3pm"

Thanks all

Forget laying down £35,000, I think because they are not quite as desirable as the coupe, they'll depreciate even quicker IMO. Look at some early 2007 models, they are hovering around the £35,000 and people can't seem to shift them. That coupled with even weaker residuals for the saloon and I think, given a few months, the saloon will be seen at £30,000 and below.

Ouch - can't believe they are at £35k already!! So yes, £30k in New Yr seems very realistic...

What do you mean Cat D? Is that a damaged car? I'd have thought a BM Approved Car was perfect. confused

I think this hasd to be the best "family car" on the market for the money. I really can't think of anything better. Sure, you can get an M5 for even less, but then you have to suffer very heavy fuel consumption, whereas it looks like 22mpg may be reasonable in the M3. I can't see any reason not to buy one! Even my wife likes it! smile

Just do it, I did, 6 weeks ago.

It is a fantastic car. No regrets whatsoever. Best value cars on the market I think.

Looks cooler than the coupe too wink

I think Dan said he was joking, to put you off so he could get and buy it before you!

It will be a little bit sooner if you try and spread the word about how perfectly ste the car was, and how disappointed you were .... That's the way I felt when I drove the E46 M3. I'd waited sooo long for the experience for the car to be a complete pile of poo. No wonder they are dipping below £10k now. No surprise - what kind of tosser would covet one of those so much they have bookmarked the PH classified section?

Press preparation.

Not necessarily a bad thing, as the warranty will take care of any issues, but it's fair to say it's probably been ragged a bit more than average.

biggrin Aah - sorry, just read the rest of the posts properly!

I'm just looking forward to closing the office in an hour so I get to drive it home again! Keep looking at it out of the window here - just stunning. Think it could look very good in red or white - this is a black one, looks great, but just think it's such a bold car that it could carry off the bold colours. And I agree - I really do prefer it to the coupe, so it's perfect for me!
