Z4 central locking problem

The central locking on the Z4 has just started doing something odd.

You lock the car as normal, but when you press the unlock button on the key, the indicators flash but the central locking doesn't operate.

If you then open and close the boot remotely, then press the unlock button again, it works fine.

Any ideas??

I had something that may be related - the central locking worked fine, but the alarm kept going off whilst driving - which was itself alarming (sorry). This was in France... the dealer replaced an ECU (updated version) and solved the problem. Same ECU controls the alarm and central locking - the boot release works differently now (cannot open boot now without doors being unlocked, before I could).

Might be worth a trip to a dealer - or calling out BMW Assist - for a diagnostic check. I hope you are still under warranty...

Does it do it with both keys? One of mine misbehaved at one point but just needed resetting.
