MrsTwo is having twins in the new year and we need a bigger car. I have my sights set on an E46 330d Touring but I don't know if it will be big enough for all the baby stuff. I am finding it impossible to get the dimensions of the boot (even the BMW dealership could not find them).

If anyone has a E46 Touring could they post the dimensions of the boot space (with seats up) please?

Thank you and Happy Christmas.

We've got two small kids 2yrs + 9mnth and managed fine with our E46 touring. Enough space for double buggy and all that goes with two kids. I wouldn't bother with a 330d. A 320d chipped will be almost as fast and more economical, with lower running costs.

Merry Christmas and Good Luck.

Until the turbo fails or the inlet manifold parts fall in to the engine.

You have to drive both - the torque and overall owning experience of the 6 cylinder is far superior - I've owned both.

Your main problem will be the pram but it is decent boot.

FWIW

We have 2 kids under 3 and find the touring boot adequate. A folded single pram just fits at the widest point (BMW boot narrows due to wheel arches). In the rear it's a very tight getting an adult between 2 kiddy seats and granny really would have to be on lots of glucosamine to slide in the small gap. I'd say if you can stretch to it get a 5 as it's much bigger and much more car for the money.

6 cylinder all the way as well.

Another vote of confidence, we manage with 2 kids under four in our 330d. We get all the buggies, bags and shopping in ok. It's a bit of a squeeze getting grandma in between the seats, but a bit of shoving and she's in.;)

Our family car is an E46 330d wagon

Its not enormous but easily takes the detritus of a family of 4 on holiday

When they were little it swallowed travel cots, buggies, prams etc etc

You'll be fine

Ive been trying to think what to replace it with for the last 6 months for no other reason than Ive never owned a car this long

And Im struggling, I just cant think of anything other than a 335d that Id want, and swapping when its probably close to my perfect car is just stupidity smile

Now - back to the classifieds smile
