M3 evo been offered £ 2,500 what would this fetch broken up?
Discussion
Ive had a few posts running recently about the smg system on my car, and i ve decided i can do no more with it, the ECU packed up and there seems to be multiple problems with the smg system.
Im going to sell it on as a spares or repair project, and ive got a bloke interested at £ 2,500.( although not seen his cash yet)
Previously before it broke down it was running perfectly,
Good strong engine usual vanos growl at low revs and a really nice looking example so loads of usable parts with exeption of ECU and possibly SMG system.
Ive done a few sums looking at prices of parts and reckon it must fetch £4000 in bits,
(if any body else interested)
98 S plate
excellent body & interior
all standard

Is it the one in your profile pic? Atlantis Blue by any chance? What's the interior like? Is it black with champagne leather? I'm after something like that but manual. At a low enough price it might be a good project to take on and would land me with the colour combo that I want. That said if you can get £4k for it as bits you'd be better off doing that as I reckon I could get a manual one for less than the sum cost of paying £4k for a broken SMG car plus the cost of converting it to manual. At £2.5k I'd give it a punt myself, but I'd have to sit down with a calculator for some time if it were going to be much more than that.
Yes thats the one.
I cant remember what the colour is called off hand, but the interior is silver grey.
To be honest what it wants is a manual conversion doing, which ive discussed on previous posts, but since discovering the burnt ECU ive lost heart.
I just dont want to throw any more cash at it.
I can email some pictures if you want.

Ah, that's unfortunate. I was after one with the interior that's mainly black with contrasting champagne leather seats and door inserts like this 328 has rather than the grey interior with silver grey leather - I just can't get on with the grey interior or I'd have bought an M3 quite some time ago as there's plenty to choose from! If I'm honest I'd rather buy one that works than start a project, but I want the Atlantis Blue/Black/Champagne combo so much that I'd sooner buy a broken car to fix than buy a working one in another colour!martinnitram said:
Nice, but not sure that colour combo was done on a M3.
The black interior with champagne leather was one of the 'Individual' options. They did do some E36 M3 Evos like that but they cost a lot of extra dosh so there weren't many. I have seen a handful of them though... I stood in the showroom of my local main dealer when they had a brand new one in there many years ago and more recently I saw an 'S' reg example for sale on Auto Trader... except it was an SMG and I've always wanted a manual. There's a PHer called 'R_U_Local' who has one with the interior in that spec too (pic: http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a224/john8771/RU... ), though his exterior colour is Velvet Blue, and I've also seen a Velvet Blue one for sale. You're right that I could be in for a long wait... fortunately I'm not in a rush!martinnitram said:

Surely a new ECU wouldn't be tough to find?I cant remember what the colour is called off hand, but the interior is silver grey.

Break it or repair it but dont sell it as it is its not worth it, you could get so much for it running or in parts.

Agreed Equinox
The engine alone will be worth £1000+; the interior, a good £500; LSD, £250 etc...
The ECU can be rebuilt despite the fact it's a Siemens unit. If you like, I can find out the name of the company that specialises in them.
