I have just purchased my second Z3m Roadster after stupidly part exchanging the last one in for a Tuscan.

This one has 19inch Breyton Wheels instead of the standard 17inch wheels, However it seems they rub on the arches slightly at low speed if the body roles on full lock.

Does anyone know if I can do anything to the suspension to stiffen up to prevent body role. thought about racing suspension maybe??

Thanks

Perhaps consider wheel spacers depending on whats rubbing and where. Alternatively stiffer anti roll bars would help but think you need to address the issue rather than trying to limit suspension travel.
Good luck :-)

Im tempted with just replacing the wheels back to standard then flog the 19s on ebay! why people Tamper with these cars is beyond me!

It has rubbed the plastic protector under the bonnet above the wheel arch slightly, you dont ever do it unless you travelling very slow and turn the wheel fully and perhaps hit a pot hole.

It will turn full lock both ways not moving and wont rub.

Also , any feedback on if its worth Chipping these cars??

Hi mate,

Think you will find you get a better ride on 17's or 18's as well as stopping the rubbing issue.

With regards the "chipping" question, in my opinion I would recommend a good quality remap only. I have had a lot of work done to my car and would highly advise you speaking to : evolveyourcar.com 01582573801 speak to Sal or Imran.

I think a remap with perhaps a simota air filter/induction set up would probably get 10-15bhp plus a bit more driveability.

^ Wat he sed yes

Wheels are a very personal choice, but your car is not designed for 19" rims. As such, you will compromise its dynamics. Far better IMO to revert back to standard (gorgeous) wheels and concentrate your efforts on making the thing handle and stop properly.

As for 'chipping, please avoid Superchips like the plague. I had them fiddle with my Evo and as a result the car came back with less power...

BM Sport, Chipwizards or Evolve are generally regarded as the guys to perform a remap on these engines.

ETA: Incidentally; Mtomlin, what problems did you suffer with the Tuscan? The Schoolboy in me fancies going down the Speed 6 route at some point this year - most likely in Tamora flavour.

i think I will do that just need to way up the costs as the car sits in a garage 10 months of the year as i live abroad. Thank you for your help though.

Tuscan , lets just say if i bought another TVR it would only be a V8. Having driven an M power car, also high powered Audis the one thing you get is reliablility.

The speed six engine is a terrible car 99% of the time, its very difficult to drive, the slightest things can knock the engine out of sync and cause massive issues. ( Big bumps in the road ) I spent 2500 on the car when i first bought it, this was on sensors, service, probes, suspension mounts and various stuff to get the car mint as it was going to sit in the garage and get used once a week if that.

I paid top money for the car - x reg - around 19k it had only covered 25k. I kept it 12 months and when i sold it for what i paid for it, it still cost me another 3.5k as had other problems over the duration of around 2000 miles.

Stay clear, i would never own another. The day it drives well and doesnt cost you anything its a great car, but you need a massive pocket to maintain them. To many people drive them and do not maintain them as cant afford to do it.

When you think i paid 6995 for a v reg M roadster with 60k on it - It just seems rediculous ever going back to something so unreliable and to be honest difficult to drive as quick a - b as you can a good solid Bimmer!

Interesting.

What puzzles me is that there are perfectly satisfied owners out there who've had very little trouble with their cars, but yet there are also many individuals now living on the street after the TVR love affair went sour.

With the little research I have done though, it does seem as of the Tuscan was more plaugued than others.

I good friend had a Tuscan and the doors would open themselves going around corners. It was at the TVR factory for 3 months of the 6 months he owned it! I think the safest bet is to buy one which has had a full rebuild by one off the well know specialists but you are still likely to face electrical problems.
