Looking for suggestions with regard to a liking for the Submariner and PO 'look'. Budget £100 (maybe £150?). Needs to be accurate so I guess quartz is essential, needs also to be able to be set accurately too - is that called 'hacking'?

So PHers - what do you suggest?

Thanks, looks good! - should've mentioned it must be on a metal strap too as a skin condition means I can't wear rubber/leather straps.

Odd that a Rolex enthusiast even suggests such a thing? Are you serious, KR?!

Instead may I suggest the perfect substitute.

Emas watches grew out of the need for those well heeled types staying at fancy hotels on the continent for a watch while they were out and about on the beach or sailing etc and wanted to tell the time....but their Rolex or Audemars or whatever was in the hotel safe. And rightly so because there were a number of high profile muggings. So a hotel started providing their wealthy clientle with polycarbonate sub lookalikes branded Nivrel. These are branded EmaS in the UK after Enrico MASerini.

Not a fake, a hommage really

Quartz or Auto movement (same price I think), robust and £125-150 quid ish.
And not subsidising organised crime yes

Here is one

Reckon that Seiko looks pretty good, also worth looking at Ollech & Wajs

take your trolling elsewhere. if you've got nothing worthwhile to add, just leave it alone.

ETA - that seiko is quite clearly not meant to be a copy of the rolex. as such, i think it's a very valid choice. and it looks good too smile

what the fk are you babbling on about ?

It's not trolling to suggest that if you want a watch that looks like a submariner (but can't afford a sub) then you might as well do the job properly and buy a fake. All this "homage" bullst is laughable. They're quite clearly trying to look like something else, there's no difference between a "homage" (keep kidding yourself with that term) and a fake.

King Rolex - the watch forum is a haven of peace and tranquility compared to elsewhere on PH. Here we manage to have energetic discussion about the merits of different watches without resorting to bad language and whilst being respectful about other enthusiasts' taste. Please consider this if you wish to carry on posting here.

Thanks

Stuart

It's ok to go around shouting "troll" at anybody if they happen to have a different opinion than you, is it?

Why is/was that allowed?

Calm down dear!

I'd say the Seiko would be a much better, higher quality and long lasting option than a Sub' fake unless you buy an expensive $500 one with a swiss movement. You can get the Seiko for £100 at it should last 10/15 years. Its a quality watch for little money.

You can compromise if you truly want a sub copy and good quality for a couple of hundred bucks

sorry mate - it wasn't meant to be insulting.

just that your reply struck me as being sarcastic - something like "you may as well get a bloody copy if you're going to get a homage". so i didn't think that was your opinion. combined with the thread you started about rolex being the best watches, but then refusing to discuss what 'best' meant to you. i've now gone back to that thread and find you did contribute more later on - and that you simply seem to love rolex. and that's no bad thing biggrin.

FWIW - i'd rather wear that seiko than a copy of a rolex, but that's just me.

anyway, sorry and hope there's no hard feelings beer
