Took the 540 through a drive-through car wash this afternoon and halfway through hear the sound of something glass-like hitting the floor and breaking. Got outside and found one of the headlight lenses had disappeared rolleyes I've filed a damage report with the car wash people but need to get the headlights fixed asap.

I've sourced a whole light unit at a local breakers for £25 but I understand removing them is a bit of a pain as you have to practically strip down the whole front of the car. Given that I only need a lens this seems like overkill (though it will give me a spare if anything else goes wrong).

I've had a good Google search for E34 lenses but can't find anywhere that sells them on their own in the UK, though there are several frustratingly vague posts on other forums indicating they can be bought somewhere...

Also, as the car's had a HID conversion already how will this affect things? I want to get it sorted asap - given the current weather and amount of crap on the roads I'm concerned about the headlight washers spraying directly onto an uncovered headlight eek

Any help gratefully received biggrin

Edit: just found a whole headlight unit on eBay for £14.99 from a chap just up the road! Hopefully collecting tomorrow lunchtime smile

Cheers chaps! Got a used light from a breakers for £15 in the end. Decided to just remove the lens as replacing the whole light fitting looks to be a right bugger and involves disassembly of the a fair bit of the front of the car. Not a clever move - the old lens really didn't want to come off frown

E34's always put up a fight - they just don't want to come apart.
