The Big Northern Gathering will take place over the weekend of 22/23 August based around Penrith in the heart of the Eden Valley in some of the loveliest countryside in the UK.

There will be three drives on the Saturday, all limited in numbers and taking in some of the finest roads in Cumbria and the Borders. Drive 1 will cover the Penrith and Hexham areas including the famous Penrith to Alston road (led by a Tuscan 2), Drive 2 will cover West Cumbria and the fast roads around the coast (led by a T350) and Drive 3 will cover the Dumfries and Galloway areas (probably led by a SEAC) for those who like their roads clear and quick. Exact routes have not yet been decided but each route will have interesting countryside and roads suitable for cars with low ground clearance. There will be no cost to join each run as refreshments will be paid for when taken at the stops. The runs will finish well in time for a wash and brush up before the evening cruise.

Saturday evening will consist of a cruise on Ullswater for a lucky 70 people who will cruise from Pooley Bridge or Gelenridding down Ullswater and return two hours later to park up and enjoy a further hour or so on the steamer MS Raven and thence to your hotel for final socialising before a late night in readiness for the show the following day. A buffet will be included in the cost of the cruise so you will enjoy the lakeside scenery whilst enjoying some fine cuisine and company of other TVR owners. The journey from the steamer to your hotel will be over empty roads.

There is a wide range of accommodation within easy reach of Penrith, from the 5 star Sharrow Bay Hotel to camping grounds by the side of Ullswater. Early booking will allow regions to get all members into the same hotel or B&B. Most hotels in the area have safe parking, but in case of any concerns contact us in North Cumbria and we will advise you accordingly.

Sunday will start with the drive to the Gathering in Hutton in the Forest. Today Hutton-in-the-Forest reflects centuries of history and change. A house of six periods between the mid 14th and the mid 19th centuries, Hutton is a rich illustration of the development of the country house in the North of England. Entry to the gathering will also allow entry to the gardens of the house.

As a bonus, there is a 3 day event taking place across the road which gives added interest to those not quite as fervent about TVR.

To really round off the weekend stay another night (or more) at the hotel and then travel to Scotland or another Northern Region as part of a holiday in the UK and save money by staying in the sterling area.

Thanks,

Would a highly modified Audi TT Quattro Coupe be welcome on the Saturday run. Penrith to Hartside Height to Alston to Haydon Bridge. I drive this route frequently. My car is quick enough with 275 bhp and modified suspenion, brakes and transmission. ( ex racing driver ).

I believe that the Sat events are TVRCC only and that the sunday gathering is an all welcome affair.
