Check if you can set the vehicle type - on my Garmins you can tell the system to route for lorries instead of cars/motorcycles, which should do the trick.

Sorry, I don't think you will find Garmin Units do what you think !!!

You have to invest in something like: Snooper Syrius S600 Plus with Truckmate, which asks for vehicle length, height and width and will do what you want. You have to pay a premium for it.

Garmin just changes the icon for the vehicle and sometimes the timings of the trip - certainly does NOT have the software to select wide roads and no low bridges etc !!!

idea I'd say consider the TomTom XL as this is a big screen and has 'smart route' by which you can select for just the larger vehicles/lorries/RVs thumbup

Since the 730 is higher up the TT range than the XL, it seems unlikely that the XL will do this better than the 730. The 730 offers 'Planning Options' but I don't know what the different options actually do. There is one called 'Limited Speed' - it is possible that this might be suitable??

True the 730 is further up the range but the XL has the large screen and also has the ability to route for limited speed and saves money - It is of course personal choice as to confused Do I need all those othe functions?confused

The limited speed SHOULD also route you via wide unrestricted main roads only my old TomTom One also had an avoid restricted width/heights under the advanced planning menu I think - I'll double check this for you smile

I assume that the more expensive model TomToms would also have this function even if it may be hidden a little under further menus, so worth prodding about in the menus and maybe doing a pre-run in your car via a 'local' route that you know gives the RV hieght/width issues to see how the sat deals with it and if it can plan around the 'known' issue smile

This might help you out bud.

Also scan google for any plug in software options that might be available as they're out there for almost every scenario that you may come across biggrin

I think that you'll find that this facility will also cater for the oversized vehicles and thus route you away from any restricted routes.
However I cannot gaurantee this on the 730 as I do not own one and so I hold no legal liability for any unwarranted 3 point turns you may have to take. laughlaugh

I still stand by the idea of running a pre-run in a car via a route that you know causes the RV issues to see if the xl routes around the obstruction thumbup

Holy thread revival BatMan!

Have a look at the Snooper Ventura. It's basically a Syrius for Motorhomes and Caravans.
