A friend of mine is looking to buy a used (12-18 months old) X3 and while helping her try and find one I have noticed a big difference in price between manuals and automatics. Why is this? Also think she is looking for a 2.0d Sport. Is this a good one to be going for? Thanks for any help

2.0d Sport is a very desirable model.

Ok performance isn't electric but it looks good and returns decent MPG.

You might find you get better value for money looking at some of the other options in the range. Ok mpg not as great but better spec and cheaper to buy.

Because who wants a manual 4x4??!!

Costs £1200 extra new and a manual looses you around £2k and people say they are doing it to save money!!

The 2.0d in auto guise will return around 30mpg, a 3.0i will return around 23mpg doing the same driving.

You get a lot more kit on a 3.0i and with petrol 15% cheaper you would need to get 26mpg from the diesel to break even, so there is really only 4 mpg in it.

Just something to consider.
