Smartrak? Help needed

Hi All,
I've got some sort of in-car nav (bought my car second hand, dealer didn't know anything about it) that consists of a little round button with a 'T' on it just behind the gear lever.
In nearly a year of owning the car I've never used it, but it does beep whenever I approach a speed camera - very useful.
However, my girlfriend has pressed the button by accident and the audible alarm has been deactivated. I've tried pressing the button every which was I can think of without success. I'm sorry for being so vague, but does anyone know what this system is and, more importantly, how I re-activate the warning alarm.
I don't ever intend to use the navigation aid, but if someone could point me in the right direction I'd be grateful.
