The reactions to the latest PH Zeroes article about the Lamborghini LM002 seems to be almost universaly that it should be a hero, not a zero. But how many people really think it should be changed and how many are not commenting on the article but agree with the verdict? Maybe the car is simply a footnote in automotive history that doesn't deserve to get the attention one way or another? What do you think?

Agree with the consensus so far, a definite hero. In fact I misread the post title and all the way until I read the comment posts thought it was quite rightly a hero article.

When there was talk of Ferrari making an off roader everyone was up in arms. That's before you even mention the Cayenne, so why is this any different?

For me, simply because Lambo have always had a slightly deranged edge to their thinking.
The Countach was one example, this is another.

Where Ferrari are stylishly engineered, Porsche are effortlessly capable, Lamborghini are barkingly OTT. And that's a good thing.

Its awsome, even today.

Utter beast, would have loved one in 86 (ok only got my licence in 88...) , and you could spec them with machine gun mounts!

Also, the Ferrari and Porsche efforts look dull and 'school run'. The Lambo just looks mental and brutal. Same reason a G Wagon is cooler than an X5. It just looks purposeful, even if it's st.

Things can look good by being pretty (Giullia Spider), handsome (DB9) or purposeful (Leatherman utility knife) IMO and the Cayenne and Ferrari concepts are neither. The Lambo is at least purposeful looking, if you see what I mean...

The LM002 was "STOOPID", a properly bone-headed, dumbass concept with no real discernible market and for that it's just brilliant. It's an automotive white elephant akin to the Spruce Goose and it should be applauded, not derided.

Bear in mind that's over 20 years ago it was made, the car market has changed hugely in that time and the Cayenne, like it or loathe it, has stepped into a burgeoning marketplace and is a success and successful model because it has ridden the wave well, in addition to actually being a fine vehicle.

It's the sheer craziness that carries it for me. I mean who the fk was going to buy it? Who though that practical military types were going to plump for the hex-carbed V12? No one. It was an excuse for madness. It's what Lambo are good at.

The cayenne felt like too much of a cynical cash in.

I love it! I mean it is just so so bonkers.

76 Gallon fuel tank, ridiculous tires, V12, and I am guessing about 3000KG

It's silly to the point where it puts a smile on my face just thinking about owning one

It's a heap of crap, looks like it's made from poor quality plastic, totally useless, rubbish MPG, every single car that did what this thing was supposed to do did it better, it's ugly as sin.
It's like heating a 1 bedroom bungalow with a nuclear power station - pointless and over the top.
It's a massive thing with a Countach engine, of course it's a God damn hero!
LOVE IT!

tossbag forgot to mention that there is absolutely no room in the front to get comfortable. Still want one though.....

On the older carbed versions, the bonnet hump is so big that when turning right on a hill, you can't actually see where you will end up.

The was gold, will soon(ish) be red LM002 is apart and in the paint shop right now, I will try and get some photos.

It was the first ever very quick offroader; for that alone it should be a hero.

All these Range Rover Sports or Overfinches, Cayenne Turbo's and X5's are just imposters. The Lambo was the first (though probably not the best).
