I didnt fancy struggling with a paddock stand and risking scratching the swing arm so I picked up an Abba Bike stand... I've bought the swing arm removal kit as well just in case...

Happy with it so far... simple to put together and to use, and the bikes nice and stable on it..

The company were good to deal with as well which is nice... answering all my daft questions !!!

a couple of pics for you

They are great, aren't they? I wouldn't want to be without mine, the bike is rock solid when supported by the Abba stand.

I really like the fact that to use it with a different bike, all you need is the adapter kit - sorted.

nice bike and got to agree with the ABBA stand. I also have the one for the front but found it crap. So just bought a Biketech headstock stand. only prob it they give you 13-18mm bolts to fit in the head stcok and my is 23mm. so waiting for that to arrive and give it a go with the ABBA stand

Excellent piece of kit, means we can have one stand that supports my R6 and the wifes Ninja, used it on her RS125 before that too. We have the bit that lifts the front up as well, though barely ever use it.

:-) I really want to take it out at the moment, but the roads are covered in crap, so I'll wait a little longer..

I know what you mean. it hurts not being able to get out and have fun while keeping dry and warm

Im not to bothered about getting cold, but its having to clean the bike down afterwards to get the salt and crap off it..

I keep thinking about buying an old snotter to ride in the winter... but then for a little bit more i could get something interesting ... and round it goes

Borrowed one of a mate a while back and very impressed with it. How does the swing arm removing bit work then? Presumably you have to screw some lugs in to the bike that it attatches to?

the only thing you need from one bike to the next is £14 bits that fit to the stand. they fit flush with the swing arm bolts. I think I got that right.

So no need to change a paddock stand like I have to in the past, just see if the ABBA bolts fit. if not a ring to ABBA or check on fleabay

I have an Abba stand for my R1, works great but I it's more of a storage / at home device as it takes a while to get the bike on the stand. So probably too slow for track days. I have the front lift as well so the bike is off the suspension over winter in the garage.

I use the abba stands, can be a bit fiddly but they are sturdy once up.

One thing to note is if you have an older stand (mine is about 5 years old) and need a new set of adapters then make sure you ring them up and let them know you have an older stand.

The reason for this being that they changed the outer diameter of the tbing used for the part that the adapters go into and thus the outer diammeter of the adapters has increased. I found this out when mine came through and I had to flap wheel and file the bits to get them to fit (I was in a pinch and needed to get the back wheel off sharpish!). When I emailed ABBA they let me in on the secret ha ha!

handy to know. mines about a year old. But great to hear after 5 years they are just as good to use. a worthwhile investment

Yeah its a bot rough but its still capable. Not a bad investment really!Just check with ABBA before you buy any new bits and they will set you straight.
