hey guys,
not a biker myself as im bad enough in a car, however my friend sat his bike test and to start off he checked the bike just to make sure everything was cool with the bike and then set off however while out on the test his brake bulb blown and he failed the test because of this.
is there anything he can do for this?

You do not fail your driving test for having a blown bulb. The DSA insist on a roadwortiness test before the start to determine if the vehicle is suitable. This is not ongoing throughout the test and there is no marking criteria on the test sheet for it.
+1You check the bike before the test for road worthiness , if the bulb blows mid test - from what i understand he is not liable. Its one of those things that happen. I sure as hell would be pissed off if that was me in that scenario, Especially conidering the cost of tests and things nowadays!
If it was due to the brake light bulb, wouldnt it be an aborted test rather than a fail. amounts to the same thing really but means he didnt actually fail the test, it was just ended early before he could complete it.
same as if the engine had blown up. presumably the examiner considered the bike dangerous and ended the test.
