Evening all, a quick question for the herd brain.

i know what squaring off is and i understand why it happens. However, What effect does squaring off have on tyre performance and how does this translate to affecting the handling of a bike?

Thanks for your help

Think about the tilt of the wheel. If the middle is squared off, then when you lean over there's gonna be less contact with the road.

the bike is harder to lean to start with, then falls over the point onto the rest of the tread.
also naff all grip as it passes the pointy bit which is interesting.

as above. you find it leans they leans very quick as it tips off the squared aprt of the tyre. not fun at all

thanks chaps. on my commuter i do nearly all motorway miles and it seems as though the tyre is starting to square off. i was just wondering what i should expect. not noticed any crazy handling yet - thankfully

it only gets really interesting when the front wears to a point. both sets of bt-021s i ran on my 14 did this. so the back was sqaure & the front was pointed - then it REALLY falls into the corners hehe tis a bugger in the wet.
it happens gradually though so you wont suddenly suffer from it.
