I thought all E36's had ABS as standard, but the black 1992 320i I'm breaking at the moment doesn't have it and I was wondering if it had been removed for some reason?

I had an early J plate E36 320i a few years back and it also lacked ABS, never fitted. Looks like they didn't all get it.

Been doing a bit of googling and it turns out it was optional on early cars. I just thought they all had it as standard.

it came in as standard in about 92-ish, and i'd imagine it was part of the SE pack, and fitted to the coupes too.

Another odd thing about the early 6cyls is that they had a different M3 type front suspension and roll bar set up, with the rollbar using longer links and connecting to the shock rather than the wishbone.
They'll also have different domed top mounts.

whilst you can swap the shocks and topmounts for the 92 on version, i think you will come unstuck with the roll bar as they'll need clamps on the shock to connect onto

You really do know your Beemer stuff TE.
This was first registered in Jan '92 so that sounds about right. My Feb '92 325i track car had the later style ARB connection to the wishbones, but they can be adapted either way IIRC.
