After being left in the rain on sunday, I found that the footwells of my Tuscan were wet - especially the drivers side. Are there any common places that the water tends to enter and any fixes to this? Had a quick look myself and the roof seems dry so I think it may be the doors? It's a 2001 model. Thanks.

I found my passenger side gets soaked when i was doing the heater fan ecu. Trying to get it out and ended up with a very wet back. I tried looking where its coming from but no luck, its around the footwell somewhere but its always to dark to investigate properly. Drivers side is bone dry.

Found damp carpets on passenger side when I was doing my heater ecu and stepper motor. Only place I can think of is where the scuttle isnt sealed to the windscreen, rain is running down bulkhead and coming in the hole where the heater box goes through the bulkhead IMO.

Mine is the same.
I was told that the sealant on the windscreen isnt very good at the bottom but your liable to brake the window trying to take it to refit correctly. This may be true but...
Also, when I am driving in heavy rain, I can watch water running down the front of the door frame.
Some times it drips on the seat and gives me a wet censored but normally it runs down and migrates across above my legs, soaks the fuse panel and drips on my legs.
I believe that it is due to the seal above the door. On mine this seal is fitted into an alluminium channel and seems to slowly move backwards. As it does, the problem gets worse. When I slide it well forward so that very much interferes with the door frame seal, I can stop the water ingress for a period.
There was a thread on here last year where someone told me they fit some extra seal on the door frame and it stops the problem but I didnt understand how he did it so I have carried on with my own "short term" fix.

Ill try and find the thread.
Tony.

Here it is;-

Another cause is the P seal which travels around the doors, front & back of roof. When you fit the roof it sometimes rolls forward and forms a natural channel which then flows down the the fold on the a pilar and either drips onto the carpet or onto the bottom leather 'what ever it is'.

Solution: Silicone spray the P seal and when the roof is fitted just roll it into the cab with your gubby fingers.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. For the time being I've bought a cover from Halfords, and I'll take a look at the weekend to see if I can find the cause.

My roof needs some TLC (it flew off!) and I have not re-fit the new one yet.

Presently run a dehumidifier oin it to keep the damp at bay.

Highly recommend a cover - do a good job but not good in high winds!

Just to update my original question, I decided the most likely cause of the leak was the door seals. Replaced them and having had a bit of rain last night the car is still dry this morning so looks like it worked. Also, the doors now pop open fully instead of catching like they used to do. smile

I got the new seals from a company called Woolies Trim. The closest match is the 266-BLK, but I decided to go for the more expensive 266A as these were thicker and so I thought they'd be even better. Unfortunately they were too thick - the windows wouldn't close fully and I couldn't get the roof back on! For reference, here are the 3 sizes...

Very pleased with Woolies service; I rang one afternoon asking if they could send me a couple of samples, they did this free of charge and the samples arrived the next morning.

Just to add, if anyone wants to buy the thicker 266A, I've got 8 metres of it going spare!

It's £2.77 a metre, and needs just under 8 metres.

Would you know which size would fit the boot aperture?

Aha... That explains why my roof doesn't fit. I've just had to put my old seal back on, I bet I got the 266A as I popped in and bought it by eye banghead

S6 Devil:- The boot seal on mine is different from the doors - it's a fair bit thinner. The closest Woolies do would be the top two on this page...
http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-38-top-seals.aspx Maybe ask for a sample as I think they may both be a bit too tall?

Or possibly the top one on this site...
