Can get these for about £90 now if you look hard enough... if you don't need the fancy weather and city guides, phone connectivity and all that rubbish (which lets face it, you don't) then its ideal.

Possibly not important, but I bought a One 3rd Edition recently (think that's TomTom speak for the V3?) and found it had lost a few of the advertised features including itinerary planning if that's relevant...

Apparently it's the One V3 and One V4 which don't have it, I'm told everything does. The end result is you can't specify multiple waypoints for a particular route, making it a bit crap for hooning. Still great for getting from A to B though.

Personally I'd go for one with the wider screen format such as the XL or Go range.

Depending on what version software the device is runnig, it is possible to get the ininerary function working again:

Which means you have to try to find and load onto your new TomTom an old version of their application program. If you can find the software and do this, you will then have a device which is not supported by the manufacturer. Better to choose a satnav which does what you want it to in the first place. If you want a TT, spend a bit more and get an XL.

Also, as mentioned above, that trick only works if your TomTom originally had software that supported it - i.e it was there and dissapeared when you updated it. All the new v3s and v4s come with the latest software supplied and crash if you try and load the older version IIRC.

I'd echo the suggestion to just go with the XL if route (hoon smile) planning is important.

Quick question while I'm here - mine seems to have scamera alerts switched off as standard, either that or they're hopeless (without buying the upgrade), is there anything I need to enable or are they just pants?

Try Main Menu/TomTom Services/TomTom Safety Cameras. There are various options, maybe you don't have warnings switched on.

I pay £20 pa sub for TT safety cameras. While the database may not be the best available, it is not too bad and it is very easy to use. I don't get warnings for mobile camera sites - but I prefer not too, there are too many such sites for me to want to be warned constantly.
