JUST FOR INFO GUYS AND GALS.

As I currently own a 2005 3.2 Audi in Band F, and am considering a Chim this year, I thought I would check the road tax situation for the next few years as I was totally confused by it all.
I had heard about this £440 per year road fund bks under the new bandings system coming in shortly, which if I had to pay on 2 cars would be almost £900 per year for what would be 13000 miles travel.
I was told by the DVLA that my current car would:-

"the vehicle currently in band "F" will move into the band "K" on 1st April 2009 when the new band structure is introduced. Therefore the rate of duty will be £215 in 2009-2010 and £245 in 2010-2011."

For a June 2000 4.5 Chim and a June 2001 Chim:-

"Regarding the Chimaera, if registered after 1st March 2001 it will fall into the Co2 scheme, if registered before it will be taxed according to the vehicles engine size. The rates for a pre 2001 4.5 litre engine vehicle are £185 2008-2009, £190 2009-2010 and £205 2010-2011".

This certainly seems to indicate that whether you own a pre or post 2001 car you will not really be paying that much extra. However the government does seem to have a £500Bn shortfall at the moment which it might want to address at some point.

Oh by the way, I've just joined the TVRCC so I hope there are plenty of Chimaera owners in the North West to educate me!!.

All TVRs even those made after 2001 are registered PLG, have no emissions on the V5 so do not fall into the CO2 banding system.
