How many ph's out there have a radar detector??(no i don't want names!!)And yes they are legal to use here but not in France.
I have been studying all the differant types on the market, and have come to this conclusion...GPS seem the way to go, as it looks like in the not to distant future that Radar and laser speed traps will soon be a thing of the past.
Now that "specs" is getting more widespread which use the new digital type of camera which cant be jammed
(as yet) they say!! The two models that seem to stand out are the "cyclops" and the "Road Angel GPS"
I have a slight hankering towards the Road Angel because it is more slimline. but what i'm after is what you lot think of either of those two!!!

Hi Dave.
We have a Belltronic, but are looking to upgrade.

If we get a simple detector it will be a road angel, but Ray is looking at a GPS system which is a tracker as well and deals with front facing cameras too.

Costly, but worth it....will show you the article when we seeyou Saturday.

Dave, take a look at the reviews at www.pistonheads.com/reviews to get an idea of what PHers think of the various devices.

Would certainly recomend a Road Angel, having had one for 6 months or so. Also have an LRC100 jammer linked to it (although this is currently 'broken').

One of the most important issues for me was where it would sit in a Chimaera and the RA happened to be spot on. Maybe one of the other options would be better in a T350?

I've got a Road Angel in my T350 and it works well, it's on the shelf below the stereo - it is reasonably discreet but can still be read/heard.

The only thing I would say is if you do place it in this location it may be worth getting the external GPS antennae as I think the stereo headunit shields some of the signal strength, its not a major issue but it would be sods law that it would be out of signal when you needed it the most.

I've written a review www.pistonheads.com/reviews/reviews.asp?id=191&r=613&c=1 so have a quick look.

You may find the actual box itself too large to fit nicely on the dashtop or be mounted on the windscreen, there isn't much space in the T350 as you know.

Not at all, just wasn't sure if you were aware of the reviews section.

Do remember that the Origin costs more in the long run (database subs) if you're watching the £££s

I have one...and its' saved me a few times
One thing though....when you buy it, the laser detector may constantly 'go off'.....call Blackspot and they will replace it with an upgraded one specially for TVRs free of charge (and free delivery)

If you want a comprehensive review site check out www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/frames.htm

Personally I think the Origin B-2 or the Micro Road-Pilot (both of which can take radar units as well) look like being top buys as the yare pretty comprehensive.

Mark, where do you site it in your Chimaera? Rich...
p.s. I have a Griff and was thinking of putting an RA on top of the black steering binnacle?

Instead of a Road Angel why not an Ipaq with GPs - give syou full sat nav plus locations of speed cameras

Sits perfectly on top of the steering column in a Chimaera with no need for the antenna extension thingamy. Is Griff arrangement the same?
