My mother had a 1968 DBS Aston Martin, I was driven to school in it every day. Amazingly at the time I found it really embarrasing as all the other kids parents had 'normal' cars Cortinas and Maxis etc........... My first driving experience as a child was in her previous car an Aston DB2/4. I was 3 years old, somehow I got into the car on the driveway, I managed to let the handbrake off and the car rolled about 15 yards into the garage doors! did quite a bit of damage apparently, parents found me cowering in the back of the car!

Between my old chap and my Grandad, our family had three Hillman/Talbot Avengers.

Green Hillman Avenger with Black Vinyl Roofed Saloon
Brown Hillman Avenger Estate
Orange Talbot Avenger Estate

Funny, I was tempted to order an Orange Cayman, but thought the colour a bit risky...seems the old chap had more guts than me back in the day!!!!

2.0 5 cylinder one of these...

Surprisingly rapid for a big beasty.

My mum had one of these for a while...until it caught fire in the drive. We also lost the roof on the motorway which was a bit of a surprise.

My earliest recollections of car travel involved an Austin Seven, sometimes known as the Ruby, then an Austin 8. These date back to about 1946-1948.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 TS
Rover 75
Audi A6 2.5 TDI Quattro

VW Passat 1.9 TDI S

All in all a mixed bunch he would have had more exciting cars after the cosworth but after my sister being born in late 1995 the fast cars had to put to rest with the exception of the boxster . He has decided once we have both gone to university going to downsize the house and looking at getting his current dream car a maserati granturismo in about 5 years when both me and my sister have gone it should be an achievable dream for him.

After that he had an 'Emerald Green' 1993 Citroen XM Estate 2.0i (1993 - 1995)

We also had a blue 1990 3dr Peugeot 205 Stlye 1.1 for 12yrs as a run-about (1991-2003) and in the early 90s my Dad's brother had a B-E-A-UUUTIFUL metallic blue Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9, and from 2001 to 2003 he had a scwheet Gunmetal 51-reg VW Golf GTI 1.8T 20th Anniversary and a purple S-reg TVR Chimeara 450.

Our Peugeot was replaced in 2003 when my grandparents moved to France with this, which was my Grandmothers, it's now my car for a bit, We got in April 2003 with 37,000mi on the clock, and currently, Feb 2008 it is about to hit 51,000mi (1993 Mazda 323 LX 1.3i 16v)

One of my greatest childhood memories is of being picked up from cubs in my dad's brand new 3.5 V8.I didn't even know that he was getting it &, even though it replaced a much loved Corsair 2000E, I dont think I had ever been so excited. If anybody out there owns FXG 575K how much do you want for it?

I LOVED my dads Montego estate! It was very rapid (for the time) and it d an extra two seats in the boot, which faced backwards, and as a 4 year old, me and my friends thought that was the height of cool hehe

In 1973 we had a fuel crisis, and I bought a mint 3500 V8 auto in a dark green, with a cream leather interior & Webasto sun roof, which I gave £350 for, I was 27 and thought I was the Muts Nuts, but the posey bird I was going out with at the time, and whose parents had a busy pub, insisted I told everyone I gave a grand for it!!! She didn't want to be associated with a £350 Rover ...... the car lasted longer than she did!!

Dad:

Cortina mk4 1.6 gl Saloon Red (company car)
Cortina mk4 2.0gl Estate midnight blue (company car)

redundancy hence excerable :
Morris Marina 1.8 Estate in maroon
Morris Ital 1.7 Estate in white

new job entailing the use of :
Renault 19 1.4 hatch (a revelation in performance and handling i am told)
Citroen ZX 1.9 DT
Rover 420 diesel (trying to relive the glory days of the marina are we dad ? )
VW bora TDI (I learnt to drive in this and the rover, a decent car, but dynamically hopeless)

Mum :

mini city 1.0 - metallic blue
Citroen AX 1.0 - maroon
206 1.4 - red (good fun to drive if a little slow)

my parents suck at buying cars biggrin
