Best big V Twin chugger in 2009
Discussion
Guy in our village, returning form working out east, wants a new big v-twin for the summer.
Budget will be quite high, i suspect, as he's been on circa £45,000 tax free for the past 4 years.
He wants something without huge bodywork, luggage, etc.
Any bikes come to mind?
I suggested the V-Rod but he wants bigger cubes and more chug!

I'm a Harley man myself and think the old Shovels were the ultimate in a line of great looking and well proportioned bikes. The Evo didn't do it for me, even the sound was wrong. To be honest there aren't any 'off the shelf' bikes that I'd be happy with unless it was one of these

There's not really much of a list to choose from actually.
Harley D
Indian (not available in UK yet)
Victory
Triumpet Rocket (not a V-Twin)
V-Max (V4 not a V-twin)
Some other large Jap Harley lookalike cruiser?
Or a custom job with a S&S in it
And...........
Err..........
Err..........

If you like that sort of thing, with a shovel engine, then phil piper at choppershack in leicester is your man, he has made loads of bikes like that, and he used to be called shovel phil on account of always using shovelheads!!http://www.exilecycles.com/index.php?section=24

The V-Rod has more than enough chug (08 models are now 1250cc), but if its not going to be a Harley and more cubes are wanted then the Suzuki M109 is worth a look.I suggested the V-Rod but he wants bigger cubes and more chug!

im liking that victory, its sleek & purposeful in the way a bling covered hardly never is any more.
There cheaper too.My 'jury' is still out on most of them though, there was some really strange looking ones on the Victory stand at Excel at the w/e, but then I'm a vintage bike fan, so ancient old (new) Hardly's are just right for me
I never miss a chance to post the GUNBUS :

45.ooo quid won´t quite buy it, about 100.000€ is the going price.
Pity they don´t have a soundfile on their page.
Regards,
Benni
