Part Ex haggeling
Discussion
Im thinking of part ex-ing my bike for a better and bigger one, but I'm wondering what if any, tips do you guys [and girl/s] have for doing so?
have been told that I will probably get around 1000 pounds for part ex on my bike but I want to try and get more than that.
also, any tips for trying to get the bike Im after for a lower price, when I went to have a look at some bikes the bloke said something along the lines of "its up for 2,100 but I'd take 1,900 for it.
are there any tips to try and get him a bit lower than that as he already came out with a lower price for it even before I said anything more than 'thats a nice CBR'

Be brave about hunting for CBRs as there are a LOT around and so likely some turkeys. Not worth jumping at one unless you're sure.

What do you ride UN? Is it worth selling it privately next month (when we may have some nice weather) and then walking into dealers armed with cash?
A big wedge of cash or waving a debit card at them saying "I'll take it" will be hard to resist, particularly if it's the end of the quarter and the sales person is fighting to make his quota....
Even if you can't get a better deal on part ex, go for the kill with cheaper/free accessories - dealer is more likely to bite on that as they will only have paid cost in the first place.
