Anyone come across this Toyo warning - suggest you let some air out!

(if anyone can let me have destructions for uploading acrobat files, I can post the original Toyo release - here http://marktg.toyotires.com/file/tirestorage.pdf)

Consumer Advisory
TSD-07-001 November 15, 2007
Recommendations on the
Proper Use, Handling, and Storage of Toyo Tires
This advisory applies only to the following products:
All Proxes® R1R™
All Proxes R888™
All Proxes RA1™
This advisory addresses the proper storage of these tires in colder climates. As seen in the picture below, tires stored
and operated at sub-freezing temperatures, i.e., at or below 32°F (0°C), will lose rubber compound flexibility and may
experience cracking when operated under such conditions.
Tread cracking due to low temperatures
WARNING!
The rubber compounds used in these tires have unique properties that, when compared to other tires, can cause them
to lose some of their flexibility when stored and operated at sub-freezing temperatures. This loss in flexibility can lead to
potential cracking and other damage to the tire.
TO MINIMIZETHE CHANCES OFTHIS HAPPENING, CONSUMERS AND INSTALLERS ARE ADVISED TO FOLLOW
THESE INSTRUCTIONS DURING SUB-FREEZING CONDITIONS:
1. Do not operate the car with these tires, as the tires may suddenly fail.
2. Always store these tires indoors at temperatures above 32°F (0°C).
3. Before mounting or dismounting, store these tires for at least 24 hours in a temperaturecontrolled environment
of 68°F (20°C) or warmer.
4. Remove these tires from the vehicle and deflate to half the normal air pressure during prolonged periods of nonuse
or storage.
5. Do not move a car that is in storage with these tires, as the tires may crack.

There's no way I'd go out on R888s in this weather in any case.

Not 1 European tyre has had a problem...from Toyo UK.
That would include Scandinavia.

Not sure where this eminates from...USA...in Freeezing conditions for some time?

Anyway, no probs reported in UK/EU.

Anyway, check your tyres...

I've not had an issue. This was my first set on a trip to the Ring. -11 over the week.

Agreed that the note from Toyo looks very much like a CYA. Anyway, I have let out some air and chucked a sheet over the tyres. No harm.

Good man, nothing stops you having your fun thumbup

I'm off to my first track test session in 10 days, inevitably similar conditions, but maybe I don't need the snow chains after all....

I've had slicks crack when they've got too cold and then i've taken them out of the shed and chucked them about... there is an interesting article from dunlop about tyre storage, and low temps.. I'll see if I can dig it out...

I expect that toyo article is from a warmer climate... I would have thought tyres sold into the nothern european market are probably a slightly different composition as you would expect 0c and below...

IIRC dunlop dont recommend slicks being stored below 4c yikes
