I have a few jobs on the list for the 5 this year, hoping to get them all done by April time.

Undersealing is one of those. Even though its only an 8 year old car, its got a lot of surface rust underneath.
I want to do it myself but dont have a garage lift or a pit to work in. Is it possible?
Whats the best stuff to use and what should and shouldnt be undersealed?

Hi Rob

This is a job I will also be taking on this year on my Merlot. I have looked long and hard at which products to use on a DIY basis and the tried and tested method seems to be:

1. Raise car as high as possible using ramps/hydraulic lift/axle stands.
2. Use wire wool to remove a lot of surface rust / dirt (Very messy and time consuming).
3. Use Hammerite Rust Remover for all remaining areas of rust, seems to be paint on, leave, brush off.
4. Paint the underside in a rust proofing paint, such as Hammerite.
5. Seal using lots of Waxoil.

Any variations on this welcome. I will be doing it once the weather warms a little and she is back on the road.
