ftp problem

trying to upload a web site via ftp using dreamweaver 4 sites ( has to be done this way its for someone) and it keeps saying "host found connecting" then "an ftp error occurred - cannot make connection to the host".

If i open up the ftp site via a web browser i can go in and move around the files etc fine.

I'm going through a proxy and firewall - does the fact i can get out to the ftp site via the web browser mean its a dreamweaver problem or is it a firewall prob??

any help appreciated..
