I am looking for advice on the best place to get a legal stick on front number plate for the bonnet of my recently acquired MX5 RS turbo (the intercooler preventing a normal centre one). I see from the photos on here that quite a few guys have them on their cars. Thanks in advance!

Your best bet is www.craigsplates.com Then order a show plate but in UK standard format.

It's not technically possible to make a sticker fit the numberplate standard. (They have to be flat and rigid!).

But craigs plates make the background reflective, the font correct, and the plate the correct size. And frankly thats all the plod care about.

+1

I ordered mine from Craigsplates.com. I think it was £16.99 delivered.

An alternative to a stick-on plate would be to get a "sidemount" plate holder that bolts onto the front towing eye. That's what I'll be doing on mine (again, for improved airflow to the front-mount IC).

Can you not use one of these plinth fittings? They fit around the very front of the nosecone and don't cover the air inlet at all. I've got one on my mk1 and it looks very neat and tidy.

Standard UK fit as far as I'm aware. Problem is though that when someone touch parks with the front of your car the numberplate plinth snaps and you find it on the floor. Then you bodge it back on, chuck the car backwards through a hedge and cant find the plinth afterwards. I decided a sticker was less likely to fall off.

Thanks guys - have now ordered an adehsive one from Craig at Craig's Plates (very helpful guy). I am sure it will be better and safer than the alternatives, particularly on track days. And think of the weight saving of at least one burger!

I don't know, not on either of the Eunoses I've had - 1 had the plate screwed to the nose using woodscrews (now replaced with one of these plastic plinths) and the other had stick-on digits on the nosecone top.
